Are your PAT Tests up to date?
It is recommended that all electrical equipment in places of work are Inspected and Tested every 12 months.
If not, contact Cawthorne-Electrical now. An accurate quote will be offered according to the number of items to be tested.
Cawthorne-Electrical will make a full visual inspection of the appliance itself, its lead and plug, ensuring all are in good order, and wired and fused correctly.The appliance is then tested using Megger PAT Testers, for Earth Continuity, Insulation Resistance and Earth Leakage, and for Functionability. The appliance is then marked with a Pass or Fail sticker, as appropriate, and a Register of Items, and Inspection and Testing schedules will be completed and given to the customer for their records. Copies will be held on file by Cawthorne-Electrical.
Remember, employers and managers have a legal responsibility to ensure the safety of their employees and the public. Getting your electrical equipment tested regularly also reduces the risk of electrical fires.
Inspection and testing will be done at your convenience, and with full consideration to minimise disruption to your business. It can be scheduled for times of shutdown, or quieter periods. These are but two of the main pieces of legislation concerned with the legal requirement that all Portable Electrical Appliances, Electrical equipment and Electrical Installations must be regularly inspected and tested to ensure they are safe to use.
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, regulation 4(2) states- "As may be necessary to prevent danger,all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, such danger."
Regulation 5 of The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 states - "Every employer shall ensure that work equipment is maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair."
